Abbot Laboratories Ltd.

A

bbot Laboratories Ltd. have set up their Clarithromycin manufacturing plant at Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India. An Effluent Treatment Plant comprising of Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 90 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 9000 mg/L. The total cost of the project for these pharmaceuticals industries was Rs. 4 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1999 to give treated effluent COD 250 mg/L.

The above effluent treatment plant was expanded by providing tertiary treatment to treat 100 cu.m/day with tertiary treatment inlet COD – 250mg/l. The total cost of expansion was Rs. 2.5 Million and the plant was successfully expanded in 2003 to give tertiary treated effluent COD – 50 mg/L.

Armour Chemicals Pvt. Ltd.

A

rmour Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. have set up their manufacturing plant at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India to produce Ampicillin, Amoxycillin, Cephalexin Na cloxacin. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 100 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 20000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 2.6 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1992 to give treated effluent COD < 300 mg/L.

Chemox Chemicals Ltd.

hemox Chemicals Ltd. is situated at GIDC Estate in Bharuch, Gujarat, India. The industry is engaged in manufacturing Trimethoprim, Sulphamethaxozole and 3,4,5 Trimethoxy Benzaldehyde. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 150 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 8000 mg/L for these pharmaceuticals industries. The total cost of the project was Rs. 2.5 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1993 giving treated effluent COD – 500 mg/L.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.

Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. is engaged in manufacturing Methyldopa at their manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. India. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving two stage Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 150 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 25000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 4 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1988 with treated effluent COD – 500 mg/L.

Glaxo Laboratories Ltd.

laxo Laboratories Ltd. have set up a manufacturing plant at Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India to manufacture Ibuprofen and Raniditine. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 50 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 15000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 2 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1988 with treated effluent COD – 100 mg/L.

These pharmaceuticals industries has set up another manufacturing plant at Ankleshwar to manufacture Cephaexin, Griseofulvin, Sotalol and Hydrochloride. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving two-stage Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 150 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 70000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 6.7 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1990 with treated effluent COD – 250 mg/L.

The industry appointed CA to carry out the Environmental Audit for their manufacturing unit at Ankleshwar for the years 1997-99.

Globe Organic Pvt. Ltd.

lobe Organic Pvt. Ltd. is engaged in manufacturing Raniditine and Diltiazem at their production facility in Hyderabad, India. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving two-stage Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 200 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 30000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 6 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1989 with treated effluent COD – 500 mg/L.

Gujarat Dyestuff Industries.

ujarat Dyestuff Industries have set up a Sulphamethaxozole manufacturing plant at Vadodara, Gujarat, India. An Effluent Treatment Plant consisting of Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 200 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 10000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 3 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1995 with treated effluent COD – 400 mg/L.

Halcyon Laboratories Ltd.

alcyon Laboratories Ltd. is a Vitamin B2 manufacturing industry situated at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. An Effluent Treatment Plant consisting of Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 20 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 5000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 0.4 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1995 with treated effluent COD – 600 mg/L.

J.B. Chemicals Ltd.

B. Chemicals Ltd. is manufacturing Metronidazole and Glyoxal at their manufacturing plant in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India. The existing Effluent Treatment Plant was modified to treat 150 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 40000 mg/L by providing Anaerobic and Activated Sludge Processes. The total cost of the modification was Rs. 2.6 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1988 with treated effluent COD – 1500 mg/L.

The effluent treatment plant was further modified to treat (a) 200cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 5000 mg/L and (b) 20 cu.m/day with acetic acid 120 kg/day and ammonia. The modified treatment scheme involved Anaerobic treatment with two-stage Activated Sludge process. The total cost of treatment was Rs.15 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1994, giving treated effluent COD 1000 mg/L.

These pharmaceuticals industries had also appointed CA to carry out their Environmental Audit for the years 1997-99.

Lupin Laboratories Ltd., Ankleshwar.

upin Laboratories Ltd. have set up Vitamin B-6 and Rifampicin manufacturing plant at Ankleshwar in Gujarat, India. An Effluent Treatment Plant consisting of Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 120 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 12000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 1.6 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1988 with treated effluent COD – 250 mg/L.

Lupin Laboratories Ltd. have set up another plant in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India to manufacture vitamin B-6, Enthambutol, Cephalexin, Atenolol, 7ADCA Cephachlor. An Effluent Treatment Plant consisting of two-stage Anaerobic treatment followed with Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 500 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 25000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 15 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1988 with treated effluent COD < 500 mg/L.

Lupin Laboratories Ltd. have also set up a Cephalosporins manufacturing plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving Anaerobic Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 200 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 20000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 6 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1999 with treated effluent COD – 100 mg/L.

The total cost of the project was Rs. 2.5 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1993, giving treated effluent COD – 200 mg/L.

The industry has set up a manufacturing plant to manufacture Ampicillin, Amoxycillin Na Cloxacin at the above location. An Effluent Treatment Plant consisting of Anaerobic treatment followed by aerobic Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 100 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 30000 mg/L. The plant was successfully commissioned in 1993 to give treated effluent COD – 500 mg/L.

agar Drugs Pvt. Ltd. is situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The industry is engaged in manufacturing bulk drugs. The industry had appointed CA to operate and maintain their effluent treatment plant consisting of Activated Sludge process. The Environmental Audit of these pharmaceuticals industries was carried out by CA for the years 1997-99.

CMIC Chloride (Chlorophenyl Methyl Ixozyl Carbonyl Chloride) and NMSM (1,1 Methyl amine Methyl thio Nitro Ethane. An Effluent Treatment Plant consisting of Anaerobic Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 100 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 20000 mg/L. The total cost of the project is Rs. 10 Million and is ready for commissioning with expected treated effluent COD < 400 mg/L.

The industry also appointed CA as their consultants to conduct the Environment Impact Assessment study for their Bulk Drugs manufacturing unit in Ankleshwar.

tandard Organics Ltd., located at Hyderabad, India is engaged in manufacturing Sulphamethaxozole, Ampicillin and Cephalexin. An Effluent Treatment Plant based on Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 350 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 30000 mg/L. The total cost of the project was Rs. 5.7 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1991 with treated effluent COD < 1000 mg/L.

Their existing effluent treatment plant was upgraded and commissioned by CA to treat 100 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 12000 mg/L. The upgraded treatment scheme consisted of Anaerobic Activated Sludge process. The total cost of the upgradation was Rs. 4 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1996 with treated effluent COD 350 mg/L.

The above mentioned effluent treatment plant is further modified to treat 150 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 20000 mg/L. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 4 Million. The construction of the upgraded plant is in progress.

The industry appointed CA as their consultants to carry out the Environment Impact Assessment study for their Bulk Drugs manufacturing plant. The Environmental Audit of the industry was carried by CA for the year 1997.

ockhardt Ltd., situated at Ankleshwar in Gujarat, India, is engaged in manufacturing Dextropoxyphene HCl, Payfloxacin and Captopril. An Effluent Treatment Plant involving Activated Sludge process is designed and commissioned by CA to treat 50 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 5000 mg/L. The total cost of these pharmaceuticals industries project was Rs. 1 Million and the plant was successfully commissioned in 1986 with treated effluent COD – 500 mg/L.

The above mentioned effluent treatment plant was upgraded by providing Activated Sludge to treat 200 cu.m/day of effluent with inlet COD 15000 mg/L. The Upgraded effluent treatment plant was successfully commissioned in 1991.
